Supernatural star Jared Padalecki is being criticized for posting a tweet about Philip Seymour Hoffman's death and referring to it as "stupid."

"'Sad' isn't the word I'd use to describe a 46-year-old man throwing his life away to drugs. 'Senseless' is more like it. 'Stupid,'" the tweet, which has no been deleted, read.

Padalecki received a number of comments from outraged Twitter users, who responsed to his remarks on Hoffman's death in disbelief.

Mike Salisbury @Boy_from_school wrote: "You know what I think is stupid Jared Padalecki? THAT SUPERNATURAL CONTINUES TO BE ON TELEVISION IN 2014."

After the Supernatural star deleted his previous statement, he clarified with another tweet.

"I didn't mean PHS is stupid or that addiction isn't a reality. I simply meant I have a different definition of 'tragedy.'"

Padalecki added another tweet that read: "When I think 'tragedy,' I think of St. Judes, of genocide, of articles I read in the paper. But, yes, either way, a death is sad."

Yet, the actor's latest tweet didn't help the situation, it only added to even more critical responses.

Feminist B--- @coolstorysam wrote: "no Jared you need to f------ make a clear apology your tweet was disgusting and insensitive just like your bieber one."

On Jan. 29, the actor spoke about Justin Bieber's legal troubles and wrote: "Deport @justinbieber and save us from the constant douchebiebery!!! #signthepetition."

There is currently no official word on Hoffman's cause of death although he was reportedly seen with a needle next to his arm when he was found dead on Sunday morning from what is believed to be an overdose.
