On the latest episode of Castle, Beckett (Stana Katic) and Castle (Nathan Fillion) took several steps in the wedding process, suggesting that the ceremony could be very soon.

Monday night's episode of Castle featured Beckett realizing that she would be without her mother on her wedding day.

"We thought it was appropriate, given the fact that Beckett lost her mom, to have a moment where she acknowledges that her mother isn't part of the wedding planning," Castle creator Andrew W. Marlowe told TV Guide after the episode. "This is something that mothers and daughters usually do together."

Marlowe noted that wedding planning is traditionally an activity done between a daughter and her mother, a realization that Beckett is forced to deal with.

"It sneaks up on her, but when it hits, it hits like an anvil and it sends her a little bit off balance," he said.

Marlowe addressed the impending wedding of Castle and Beckett, discussing the likelihood of featuring it near the season 6 finale.

"I think that's what the characters are thinking," Marlowe joked. "I think the characters are thinking about a wedding this spring that would fall within our air dates."

Fans of the couple do not have to worry about them getting cold feet any time soon. Marlowe said that he and the Castle team are not interested in telling that story going forward. A Castle wedding could be coming at any moment as season 6 approaches its finale.

Castle airs Mondays at 10 p.m. on ABC.
