Supernatural fans can breath a sigh of relief - the hit CW drama has been renewed for a tenth season.

When Will Snooki Stop By 'Supernatural'? New Details On The 'Jersey Shore' Star's Cameo

Based around the paranormal adventures of Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) and their angel pal Castiel (Misha Collins), Supernatural recently aired some of its most viewed episodes since 2010. Considering these recent stats, an early pickup comes as very welcome announcement for the fans and cast alike.

The Supernatural cast and crew quickly took to Twitter to thank their viewers and joke about the upcoming season.

Castiel's Angelic Dilemma Heats Up On 'Supernatural'; Will Sam & Dean Pull An Old Fashioned Salt & Burn?

"It's official! Supernatural will be back for Season 10! Y'all did it! WOOHOO!!! #Supernatural #CWpickups," wrote Padalecki, later adding, "And, theres already a season 10 storyline: Sam and Dean check into a retirement home, and NOT because it's haunted! #toooldforthis!"

Meanwhile, writer Adam Glass joked that the season finale would now have to be rewritten.

"#supernatural season 10?! I was just writing the finale when #samndean drove off the cliff "thelma and louise" style. #back2thedrawingboard," Glass tweeted.

However, Collins summarized the upcoming season best, telling paranormal entities to be on their guard.

"#supernatural is officially picked up for season 10! Underwear model's will hunt again! Ghosts, demons, angels & pie be forewarned" Collins told his followers.

When Supernatural returns next fall, it may not be alone. A new spin-off series, Supernatural: Tribes, will receive a backdoor pilot this year and will then be in the running for a full season pickup next fall.
