Since the shooting of the upcoming eighth season of BBC's Doctor Who began at the beginning of 2014, it's been heavily buzzed about that its newest lead, Peter Capaldi, would be squaring off against the likes of the Daleks.

Premiere Slated For Summer, Which Could Affect Christmas Special?

On Feb. 17, the Daily Star reported that the actor will "fulfill a lifelong dream of fighting the Daleks in his first series as the new Doctor."

Interestingly enough, BBC's top brass originally wanted the 2014 version of the TV series to be "exterminator-free," as the Daleks had been shown in the program's 50th anniversary episode, titled The Day Of The Doctor and also Time Of The Doctor, it's Christmas special.

The U.K. site posted that the Doctor will be taking on "a new batch of monsters." However, Capaldi, who has a childhood follower of the show, told the creative brass that it was a dream of his to go up against the infamous pepperpot-shaped villains, and his wish was granted.

Season 8 of Doctor Who is currently in the production phase of filming. While it will more than likely premiere at some point in either August or September, an air date has yet to be officially revealed.
