Gabriela Dawson and Matthew Casey's relationship may start dwindling when Chicago Fire returns next week.

Matthew Casey's New Bad Side Makes Gabriela Dawson Concerned?

As she trains to become a firefighter in the academy, Dawson will find comfort in her new teacher, Kelly Severide.

"We really get close," Monica Raymund, who plays Dawson, told TV Guide. "I need him and he's there for me and we have this... truthful moment where I don't want to admit something to him and he just gets it and he takes me out and brings me to the firehouse to cheer me up."

Does this mean the two will have an affair?

Such behavior will probably be a shock for many fans since Dawson was distraught when Casey was in the hospital during the first half of season 2.

The two also fought hard to make their relationship work. Dawson and Casey tried hard to keep their affair quiet, especially because she used to date Peter Mills.

"They finally have this opportunity. They want to share it with people that they work with, but they realize: Why basically kick people when they're down?" showrunner Matt Olmstead told TV Guide last December.

"Most of the people would be happy for them, but they have Mills to consider, so it's like, 'Nice working with you, Mills. Oh by the way, I'm dating Dawson now.' So they have to keep a lid on this enthusiasm they have for this relationship in light of the fact that they have to go their separate ways."

Chicago Fire returns on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
