Previous reports that viewers would cry when How I Met Your Mother aired its series finale appear to be true is tweets from the cast and creators of the show are any indication of how heart-wrenching the one-hour episode will be.

The show, which had its final table read for cast and crew last week, is set to begin airing its final episodes Feb. 24, with the actual one-hour series finale, titled Last Forever, scheduled t air on March 31.

Since creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas revealed that the final script had been written, both have posted a series of tweets about wrapping things up on the show, including how sad it will be for them to say goodbye to the cast they have worked with for nine years.

"Saying bye to Ted, Barney, Robin, Lilly and Marshall will be as hard as saying bye to real people in my life (sorry real people in my life!)" Thomas tweeted Feb. 18.

Meanwhile, several cast members have also tweeted since reading their scripts, detailing that the final episode made each and every one of them cry when they read it.

Josh Radnor, who plays Ted, wrote on Feb. 14, "Read the HIMYM series finale script on the treadmill at the gym this morning. People probably thought that was sweat in my eyes. Suckers."

Neil Patrick Harris, who has portrayed the somewhat iconic role of Barney Stinson, also tweeted about reading the final script, writing "Just finished the initial read thru of the final How I Met Your Mother. Ever. Holy Moly. Just...holy dang moly."

Alyson Hannigan has also taken to social media to share her thoughts about the final episode, first tweeting on Feb. 14 that Bays and Thomas were breaking her heart on Valentine's Day.

"Today we are having our last ever HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER table read. Carter & Craig are trying to rip my heart out on Valentine's Day," she wrote.

She later followed that tweet up with a photo of the script and a bunch of crumbled tissues, writing, "Umm...so this is how the last HIMYM Table Read went for me. #sorrytrees."

Since then Hannigan has also revealed that scenes shot at the cast's famous hangout, MacLaren's Bar, has wrapped, writing on Feb. 18, "Just wrapped my final #HIMYM bar scenes. Wow we drank A LOT!!!"

Though the cast and crew could be expressing sadness simply because the series is truly wrapping up, past hints have provided clues that the titular mother character died somewhere between the 2014 wedding where she first met Ted, and the year 2030, when Ted sits his kids down and tells them the story.

Back in 2013, Bays revealed it was a possibility when he mentioned that the ending for the series had been decided on a long time ago.

"There's certain things as you create a show that over the years your expectations of what the show is going to be change and you write it differently and you change your game plan, and we've done that with a lot of things on the show but there are certain core fundamental things that we don't to veer away from, and one of those is how the series ends. And with that in mind, this decision was made years ago and I don't think we've ever even shaken from how we want to end it," he said. "I think it'll be a fantastic series finale. The series finale is kind of why we've done the show all along and whenever we do get to do that finale, we're very excited about it because I think it's going to be really heartbreaking, and sweet and wonderful."

However, Bays has been relatively quiet about spoiling the end with specific details, but is keeping fans updated about the shooting schedule.

"Shooting the final scene of the #HIMYM finale right now. Potential 'last line of the series' ad lib battle is brewing," he tweeted Feb. 20.

Fans will have to wait until March 31 to see if the theory about the mother pans out, but in the meantime, CBS has released photos from the show's next episode, Rally, which airs when the series returns on Monday, Feb. 24.

How I Met Your Mother airs Mondays at 8/9C on CBS.
