With the passing of his father, John Ross Ewing will have to carry some heavy weight on season 3 of Dallas.

Josh Henderson, who plays John Ross on the hit TNT show, spoke with EnStars on Monday and revealed that his character will work arduously to grow J.R.'s company, Ewing Global. Yet, it won't be an easy task for the young businessman.

"He feels like he knows exactly what he needs to do to take the company to the top," Henderson said about John Ross at the launch of the first-ever Ewing Energies gas station in New York City.

"But, really, he wishes his father was still here because he needs help. So, he's always looking for some sort of a sign from his father like, 'What do I do next?'"

The death of J.R. (portrayed by the late Larry Hagman) will also lead to more animosity between John Ross and his mother Sue Ellen, who turned to alcohol to help deal with the murder. The mother and son have always squabbled over her drinking problem, but Henderson hinted that the conflict is likely to intensify on the upcoming season.

"I think at some point it's going to come to a head with him and his mother," he said. "And it's very real, very raw and emotional and the fans are going to just eat this stuff up."

As season 3 develops, John Ross will also begin to adopt his father's manipulating ways more so than ever, especially when it comes to his love life. John Ross will continue to juggle women, including his wife Pamela and Elena, in order to obtain what he wants.

"He loves his wife but he can cut off the home relationship with the business relationship and in business he needs to do what he has to do to get to the top," Henderson said. "Just like old daddy. Just like J.R."

Season 3 of Dallas, which Henderson deemed the "best season yet," premieres on Feb. 24 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
