Paula Patton and Robin Thicke have decided to separate amid rumors that he cheated on his wife.

Despite the two attending the Grammy Awards back in January and seeming so happy on the red carpet, the couple released a statement to PEOPLE magazine on Monday that they will go different ways.

"We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time," the statement read.

The news doesn't come at a surprise to many after Thicke has been linked to hooking up with different women.

Back in August, he stirred a bit of controversy when he performed at the MTV VMA's with Miley Cyrus and was photographed groping a fan's butt during an after party.

In January, the Blurred Lines singer performed at Club 79 in the Paris capital and was surrounded by a handful of dancers. Thicke was dressed in a three piece suit and his top buttons of his shirt were undone and his sleeves rolled up.

At the time, he was spotted hugging a fan that was dressed in a black dress with a black bra. The woman's hand was on Thicke's cheek and at one point she danced up against him, The Daily Mail reported. See photos here:

Thicke previously said that he wrote Blurred Lines about Patton.

The couple first met when the singer was 14 years old and have been married since 2005. They share a son together, Julian Fuego.
