American Horror Story actress Lily Rabe may not be appearing in the upcoming fourth season of the horror anthology series, based on recent reports.

Season 4 Concept: NOT Circus or Red Scare Despite Clues & Rumors?

Rabe has officially been cast to star in a new ABC drama called The Visitors, according to Variety. It is unknown when and if The Visitors will air, but presuming it airs in the fall, she might have to sit out of American Horror Story for a season.

Rabe has been one of only five cast members to appear in all three seasons of American Horror Story. She played Nora in season 1, Sister Mary Eunice in Asylum and most recently Misty Day in Coven.

Thus far, only regulars Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulson have said that they will be a part of American Horror Story in season 4. Fellow regular Evan Peters has voiced his desire to come back for another season, along with Coven additions Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett.

There has been very little revealed about American Horror Story season 4, though co-creator Ryan Murphy has teased few details. Firstly, the season will take place during two time periods, one of which will be the 1950s. He also revealed that Lange's character will have a German accent.

He noted that season 4 will have more of comedic tone, much like the recently-ended Coven.

The new season's concept could be revealed at PaleyFest 2014, the festival where Murphy and co. revealed the Coven concept in 2013. The cast and crew of American Horror Story: Coven will come together for a panel on March 28.

American Horror Story season 4 premieres in fall 2014 on FX.
