Hannibal's cannibalistic physiatrist is not particularly pleased that Will Graham is in prison, despite the fact that it was his own doing.

Will Graham Gets An Ally, Who Will Believe Him In 'Hannibal' Season 2?

As the NBC series enters its second season, Dr. Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) is free to do as he pleases while Graham (Hugh Dancy) sits in prison with Hannibal's true identity in his pocket. While the psychologist used the FBI profiler as a patsy, Will's current incarceration is not something Lecter would have preferred happen.

"I think even Hannibal isn't pleased with the fact that Will's in jail," Dancy explained to IGN. "I mean, it was an inevitability because that was Hannibal's defense, right? But he wasn't plotting that from the word "go," I don't think at all. Now, if anything, Hannibal is just as upset as Will that Will's locked up.

Series creator Bryan Fuller previously stated that "Hannibal will always want to be close to Will," and by episode 2, Graham will realize that he must play upon that desire in order to overtake the serial killer.

"Ultimately, not to get too far ahead or give anything away, but I think Will, after trying various tactics, realizes that the only way he's ever going to outmaneuver Hannibal is by reengaging with him," Dancy said, according to IGN. "You can't lie to Hannibal -- he'd see through it; he's too clever. So the only way Will can do that is honestly recognize for himself that he is drawn to Hannibal, that there's some part or some connection that still exists."

However, this twisted relationship will not come without a psychological downfall for Graham as he will need to take on the man who so skillfully manipulated him in the past.
