The actor recently spoke to Giant Freakin Robot and The Nerdist about the film. "It's a bit more of a darker vision of the Transformer world...It's not a kids movie, I'll tell you that much," he said.

But it seems like as soon as Welliver's words hit the press, he might have been worried about losing some of the film franchise's biggest fans and audience. He immediately sought to retract his statement with The Nerdist.

Michael Bay Teases Release of Full-Length Trailer

"I misspoke in my last interview when I said that Transformers 4 was not a kids movie...what I meant was that this film, will in fact expand their target auduence and bring in a bigger fan base," he said. "Following the huge success of Transformers and their toy line, it is certainly a kids movie and with the addition of Mark Wahlberg, Transformers 4 will be the coolest in the franchise."

Welliver will be supporting the antagonistic side, led by Harold Attinger (Kelsey Grammar). He will play Savoy, one of Attinger's accomplices. Attinger is a counter-intelligence agent.
