Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner recently revealed some key details about the upcoming seventh and final season of the show.

Megan Draper "Put Through the Wringer" in Final Episodes?

Weiner spoke to TV Guide magazine recently, discussing the theme of Mad Men's final season and the status of the main characters.

"What this season is about thematically is: Are there consequences, and are they irreversible?" Weiner revealed. "What are the things that you do that you can't undo."

This theme is most apparent for Don Draper (Jon Hamm), who was last seen going through trouble in his marriage to Megan (Jessica Pare) in addition to losing his job at Sterling Cooper & Partners.

"There's a line in the opening episode: 'Have I broken the vessel?'" Weiner said. "And that's the question. Have you poured liquid out and have to refill it, or have you just destroyed it? I don't live in a world of regret, but I might imagine that Don Draper does. Or maybe it would be nice if he did."

Season 7 of Mad Men is slated to air its first seven episodes in April and May before taking a year off and airing its final seven episodes in 2015. Therefore, Mad Men will be covering a lot of story right away.

Weiner announced that viewers should expect some "pretty significant stories" from Don, Peggy (Elisabeth Moss), Pete (Vincent Kartheiser), Roger (John Slattery) and Joan (Christina Hendricks).

Mad Men season 7 premieres Sunday, April 13 at 10 p.m. on AMC.
