Scandal returned to ABC on Thursday night with some more fabulous fashion from Olivia Pope.

Olivia, played by the beautiful Kerry Washington, wore those designer coats she's become known for on the Feb. 27 episode, "Ride, Sally, Ride."

In a paramount scene, Olivia sported a white Prada Cappotto coat with silver chrome buttons as she spoke to First Lady Mellie. The First Lady also looked chic in a red long sleeve dress designed by Escada as she drank wine with Olivia.

The wardrobe, put together by costume designer Lyn Paolo, has become a significant part of the show.

As if fans haven't noticed, Olivia wears a whole lot of white. The color is one Paolo fought to incorporate into Scandal's style.

"Olivia Pope is very strong, and I didn't want to have her in a lot of dark suits, so I pitched the idea to ABC of having this person wear a lot of pastels and winter whites to bring out a feminine (side) -- I call it 'elegant femininity', just to see a strong female character look like a lady," Paolo told Stylist.com.

As far as what fashion statements fans will see on season 3, Paolo also explained that there will be some changes.

"I can't really tell you what's happening in Season 3, but I want our viewers to know that because everyone's position has reoriented on the show, we changed a lot of the fashion elements of each character to show how they're evolving," she said.
