Bette Midler took the stage at the 86th Academy Awards to remember the stars who passed away in the last year.

The 68-year-old entertainer performed Wind Beneath My Wings to acknowledge the passing of notable acts including, James Gandolfini, Peter O'Toole, Paul Walker and Philip Seymour Hoffman amongst many others.

Midler, who received a standing ovation for her performance, took the stage for the first time in her decades-long career.

"We are thrilled to have Bette perform on the Oscars for the very first time," the show's producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said in a statement. "We believe she will make our Oscar telecast an especially moving evening."

Earlier in the evening, Pink also took the stage to pay tribute to another late star -- Judy Garland.

The 34-year-old singer performed an impeccable rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow.

Wearing a floor-length red gown, Pink performed the classic Academy Award-winning ballad from the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz.

Garland's three children - Liza Minnelli, Lorna Luft, Joey Luft - were also present on Sunday to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the iconic film.
