Arnold Schwarzenegger talked filming details and playing the iconic cyborg in Terminator 5, in a recent interview.

The actor disussed the film at a special Arnold Sports Festival. Schwarzenegger said that production would begin "in the middle or in the end of April", and that the shoot will last for about four or four-and-a-half months. 

Last year it was announced that filming would take place in New Orleans. Schwarzenegger suggested that part of the shooting will also take pace in Los Angeles.

While talking about reprising his role as the mean machine after so many years, the actor said he was "really looking forward to it."

"I'm really looking forward to that because as you know, the last time when they did the Terminator," he said. "It was when I was Governor and so I couldn't be in that movie but now I'm back again and they are very excited about having me in the film."

He also added that "the script is fantastic so I'm really looking forward to this film."

Pre-production for filming for the fifth installment in the Terminator series will begin in New Orleans on April 21.

The cast also includes Emilia Clarke, who will be playing Sarah Connor, and Jason Clarke, who will play John Connor in the film.

Schwarzenegger has filmed in New Orleans for Escape Plan and Clarke shot for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes in the state.

The director of the film, Alan Taylor, had previously suggested that his inspirations for the reboot were derived from the Batman series

Taylor spoke about how much he loved the first two films in the Terminator franchise.

"We all love the first two and I actually went back and watched them again and my respect level only went up for those first two," he said of The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day.

The director went on to speak of a similar franchise being an inspiration for the fifth Terminator, suggesting that two films in the Batman franchise were "wonderful."

Terminator 5 is scheduled to release in July 2015.
