Man of Steel 2 director Zack Snyder recently commented on where they were in the filmmaking process and teased a few details about the film's story.

Michael B. Jordan Tapped For Role In Batman vs. Superman & Other DC Films?

Snyder spoke with the Los Angeles Times this week about Man of Steel 2, a.k.a. Batman vs. Superman, and said that shooting was about a month away. He and his producers have been evaluating the new Batman and Superman suits.

"We were just testing the suits," he said. "The new Batsuit and the Superman suit. It wasn't even with the actors, right? It was just to see them standing there, and they were standing next to each other and I was like 'guys, someone take a picture! This has never happened before.'"

Superman Suit Has 'Minor Tweaks'?

Snyder added that Man of Steel 2 "literally takes the Man Of Steel and Batman universes and explodes them," and commented on all of the controversial casting choices that have occurred thus far.

"We know the material," he said. "Unfortunately, the fans don't know the material. So we're casting according to what's happening in the script, and we're hoping that leads to enough originality, enough perspective on what we're doing that you get something fresh and exciting."

The primary target for criticism thus far has been the choice to cast Ben Affleck as Batman, in addition to Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.

"I understand the canon," he stressed. "I'm not crazy, I know what these characters need from a mythological standpoint." He added that it will be fun to let these characters loose on the big screen.

Man of Steel 2 is scheduled for release in theaters on May 6, 2016.
