Grandpa Winchester is returning to Supernatural and the Men of Letters alum will have a surprising demonic companion.

Will Crowley's Dangerous New Addiction Compromise The Winchesters' Mission In 'Blade Runner'?

Although Henry's female partner went by the name of Josie Sands back in 1958, she was really none other than one very familiar Knight of Hell. That's right - the murderous Abaddon (Alaina Huffman) was somehow linked to the Winchester clan before she decimated the Men of Letters in "As Time Goes By."

Henry Winchester (Gil McKinney) bequeathed the Men of Letter's bunker to his surprised grandsons when he made his brief season 8 appearance, but John's father snuffed it after just one episode and clearly forgot to share a few important details before he was relocated six feet under.

Sam & Dean Winchester Get Help From A Men Of Letters In 'Blade Runners', Is He A Flashback?

Sam (Jared Padalecki) will stumble across this tidbit of family lore while he is investigating a series of alleged possessions during "Mother's Little Helper." With Dean (Jensen Ackles) sequestered back at the bunker due to a little problem with the Mark of Cain, Sammy will be on his own as the Misha Collins directed episode flashes back to the late 1950s.

"Guess the cat is out of the bag," tweeted episode writer Adam Glass ("Bad Boys," "Sharp Teeth") after the news of Henry's return broke online. "What I wouldn't do to surprise you #SupernaturaI fans just once!"

Finding out what a Winchester and a Knight of Hell were doing together should prove to be enough of a surprise for one episode.

Supernatural airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW. Click the video below to see a preview for the series' next episode, "Blade Runners."
