As she continues to recover after a mandatory stint in rehab, actress Amanda Bynes may be preparing to take a new step in the process and seek out someone to date.

According to The Belfast Telegraph, the 27-year-old, who has been taking classes at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, is considering the idea of being in a relationship again, but her parents are trying to ensure she picks a man who won't steer her down a dark path.

"Amanda is in a state where someone could come in and take advantage of her, so her parents are trying to find dates through friends," a source said. "Her parents are very protective. They won't let Amanda date just anyone-bad boy types need not apply!"

Her parents are reportedly insisting that if she dates, her boyfriend must have a stable job, clean record, and agree to take random drug tests before seriously dating Bynes.

It is unclear if the reports are true, but Bynes has been making significant progress in her recovery attempts. Not only has she re-enrolled in school, but she has been spotted working out regularly, and has been living with her parents in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

Her lawyer, Gerard Shagel, remains optimistic that her recovery will be a success.

"This is an important step in her rehabilitation," he said. "I am optimistic about her future and pleased with the result.

The actress took to her twitter account last weekend to thank her fans for their support during her difficult time.

"HI everyone! I'm busy studying at @FIDM but I want to say I love you to my fans! Xoxo Amanda," she wrote March 1.

Her most infamous tweets from 2013 have all been deleted from the account, though In Touch Weekly has reported that there is a chance the actress is using a secret twitter account these days, under the name "Ashley Barks."
