It appears the back and forth stories about Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes' relationship is still going on, though confirmation that the couple is not only still together, but incredibly happy, may have surfaced.

Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendes Split Because of Partying?

According to Independent Woman, the Place Beyond the Pines co-stars did split late last year, but have since rekindled their romance at Gosling's request.

The site claims the couple initially broke up for reasons very different from ones that were initially reported, saying that Gosling didn't want to settle down, which forced Mendes to walk out on him.

"Eva gave Ryan a marriage ultimatum last October and, when he failed to produce a ring, she walked out on him," a source claimed.

However, despite the split, the couple is once again giving things a shot now, because Gosling allegedly missed his 40-year-old girlfriend.

"Ever since they broke up, Ryan's been pleading with Eva to take him back," the source said. "He was a wreck without her-she's his muse and the only woman alive who could give him the courage to try directing. They're good for each other and a great match. He knows it and he's not going to let her get away this time."

The source revealed the possibility of an engagement could soon be on the horizon, with confirmation in just a few months.

The pair sparked split rumors late last year after not being photographed together in months, though Gosling was recently spotted at Mendes's L.A. home.
