Jaime King is officially back on the Hart of Dixie set after maternity leave and she revealed that being a new mom has changed her outlook on life and love.

King, 34, told People magazine during the 7th Annual Women in Film Pre-Oscar Party in Los Angeles, "You look at this little child and any part of you that wants to go off into lala land or any sort of selfish behavior or ideas, you look and you know what love is.

I don't know how to describe it other than it's the most profound thing that could ever really happen...You think you now and you have no idea. You realize how powerful we are as creators and you realize that there's no room for your own [stuff] anymore."

King also opened up about the challenges she has faced since welcoming baby James Knight Newman with her husband, Kyle Newman, in October.

"At 4a.m. he'll roll over on his stomach and then start screaming and then you have to flip him over. It's really challenging, I think your whole life changes," she said.

Still, she added that now being a mother has strengthened her work ethic and she realizes how important it is to be able to continually provide for her little one.

"The only thing that really matters to me is the survival of my son. Obviously, to be in this industry, you have to be ambitious and driven, but it's finding a way to balance how do I do th best work possible while at the same time create a life for my son where he can be very happy and free."

Hart of Dixie returns from hiatus on its new night, Friday, March 21 at 9/8c.
