Falling Skies is returning to TNT for a fourth season, and the apocalyptic sci-fi series already has a June premiere date.

Tom Mason and the 2nd Mass dealt a crushing blow to the Espheni forces in the season 3 finale, but once the fourth season picks up on June 22, the resistance fighters will be questioning their decision to not take refuge in Brazil.

"This year were starting the season in many ways inspired by The Empire Strikes Back where the family, as it were, has been divided, sort of violently divided," said new executive producer David Eick, according to a video interview with IGN. "Part of the season involves striving and yearning to put the family back together."

From previews and behind-the-scenes photos, it appears the 2nd Mass - and the newly reunited Mason clan - will find themselves scattered when their convoy is ambushed on the road home from Boston. In the wake of the premiere, "The Ghost in the Machine," the surviving humans will find that the war has jumped to a whole new level.

While it appears Matt (Maxim Knight) will be taken to some form of military school, Tom (Noah Wyle) will find himself a prisoner and the astonishingly fast growing Lexi will continue to creep her mother out on a grand scale. As for the rest of the crew...well, it looks like we'll have to wait until June to find out what strange predicaments they will be thrust into.
