New Line's disaster pic San Andreas has tapped a female lead to star alongside Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.

The news was announced by Variety on March 14.

The film, which was written by The Conjuring scribes Carey and Chad Hayes, and is being directed by Brad Peyton, has been in development since 2011, and is currently scheduled for a June 5, 2015 release.

The story takes place when the "Big One" earthquake hits California and a special ops firefighter and his ex-wife are forced to make the treacherous journey from Los Angeles to San Francisco in an effort to rescue their daughter. Johnson is set to play the firefighter, Tom, while Alexandra Daddario has been tapped for the role of the daughter. Gugino now joins the cast as the wife, Emma.

The film is being produced by Beau Flynn through his FlynnPicture Co., alongside Village Roadshow.

Johnson is also slated to star in several other big name films in 2015, including reprising his role as Luke Hobbs in Fast and Furious 7, and is rumored to be taking over Arnold Schwarzenagger's role in Terminator: Genesis. He will also star in Hercules later this year.

Gugino can next be seen in Wayward Pines opposite Matt Dillon, and is also scheduled to release both Match and Almost Heroes 3D later this year.
