Carrie Preston hinted at a spin-off of The Good Wife about a New York based law firm, in a recent interview.

Dubek Harasses Alicia About Her Relationship with Will in Episode 15?

While speaking to E! Online about the recent twist of events relating to her character in the latest episode of the CBS series, the 46-year-old actress suggested that something bigger might be at play.

In the episode, A Few Words, which aired on March 16, Preston's character Elsbeth Tascioni won over Rayna Hecht (Jill Hennessy) and announced that she would be starting a new firm with her. Florrick/Agos and Lockhart/Gardner were also fighting for Hecht's patnership -- which would pump in $60 million -- but lost out to Preston.

Will Goes to Jail to Protect Alicia?

Now it seems like another reckonable force will be joining the arena.

Preston told the online entertainment publication that she already started wondering how things would play out for her in the next season.

"I was surprised when I was reading the script. Of course, I immediately as an actor go, 'What does that mean for me next season?' because obviously I want to come back and do more, so I don't know what that means, but it could be something really fun, to have yet another competitive law firm thrown into the mix," she said. "I don't really know what that means, but it was pretty cool, and when I really thought about it, it wasn't really a surprise. Of course Elsbeth would swoop in in her fortuitous way and hit the bull's-eye."

While talking about the future of her character, the actress, who also stars in True Blood, seemed to suggest that things could go two ways -- either she would be come on board permanently or the producers could think of working on a spin-off.

"I think they concentrate on the season at hand, and then we'll see. I'm hoping that they'll want to open up a dialogue with me, but you know, there's lots of things that go into something like that happening, but my fingers are crossed," she said. "I would love to continue playing this character, not only because I love the character, but it shoots in New York and my husband's there most of the year shooting Person of Interest, and it would just be amazing for us to actually be working in the same city."

Preston already has ideas for the nature of the spin-off and how it would pan out.

"A spinoff could really work in that kind of Monk way, a drama but has a lot of levity to it and, you know, it's the case of the week and how is this woman going to use all of her mind tricks to make it happen in surprising and entertaining ways?" she said. "It could work, but I don't know how CBS would feel about that."

While there is no official word on this yet, Preston seems to have already planted the seed.

The next episode, Dramatics, Your Honor will air on March 23 at 9/8c on CBS.
