White Collar is reportedly ending after season 6 with a shortened episode run, per new reports.

White Collar will only have a six-episode order for its sixth and final season, according to a Thursday report by Deadline. The final deal is not official yet, but the report claims that Fox TV Studios and the USA network are finalizing the deal.

The deal is reportedly a compromise between USA, who wanted a movie/miniseries conclusion to the series and Fox TV Studios, who wanted a full-length season.

The report notes that season 5 was not as much of a ratings hit, which may explain the decision to end the show in addition to its increased age.

Season 5 of White Collar featured a cliffhanger ending in which Neal (Matt Bomer) was suddenly abducted by kidnappers. As previously noted by The AV Club, the series has a history of kidnappings, including Peter (Tim DeKay) and Elizabeth (Tiffani Thiessen).

Bomer has been busy with numerous movie roles lately, so ending the show will only serve to benefit his blossoming career. He is one of the stars of the upcoming HBO movie The Normal Heart, which centers on the AIDS crisis in the 1980s. He is also in the film Space Station 76, which premiered at SXSW in early March.

It is currently unknown when White Collar will return for its sixth and final season but it is presumed that it will return to the USA network at some point during the 2014-2015 TV season.
