NCIS executive producer Gary Glasberg revealed a few more details on the Ralph Waite tribute in the season 11 finale and it will be a sentimental one.

Tony DiNozzo Goes To France For Action-Packed Episode?

"We've talked about [the episode] since Ralph's passing, and I think we've come up with a really great crime story that will bookend into the passing of Jackson Gibbs," he told Entertainment Weekly. "That's going to be a really emotional storyline that Mark Harmon has been involved with since day 1. We're working on that right now."

Waite, a veteran actor whose career spanned over 50 years, died on Feb. 13 at the age of 85. He recurred in the CBS show as the father of Leroy Jethro Gibbs, played by Harmon.

"This really changed the dynamic of it and added a whole emotional element to it that I wasn't planning on," Glasberg added. "But we wanted to do it justice and do it right and really make it a tribute to Ralph."

Glasberg also revealed that he's not so interested in adding a cliffhanger in the upcoming finale.

NCIS Coming Back For Season 12

"I'm not 100 percent sure we'll be going out on a cliffhanger this year," he said. "We may let the resonance of what's happened with Gibbs settle a little bit and start fresh come season 12. We're working on that and figuring it out."

The NCIS season 11 finale will air on Tuesday, May 13 at 8/7c.
