Behind-the-scenes footage of Mikael Perbrandt transforming into Beorn for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug has now been revealed.

In the clip, fans finally get to see Perbrandt's dramatic makeover, his naturally smooth skin is all wrinkled up, and the hoariness prevails as big bushy fake eyebrows, massive beard, and a heavy unruly wig -- which is made of horse hair -- is adorned by him. The most defining touch is the prosthetic nose that is plastered on to his face.

This video, which is a part of the bonus feature on the Blu-Ray and DVD for the film, has been unveiled ahead of the DVD release.

The Hobbit Accused of Racially Biased Casting Spurred By Rooney Mara Starring As Tiger Lily?

In November, last year a clip showing Beorn's home was revealed to pump up anticipation for the release of the film.

The clip took fans through the magnificent set of Beorn's abode. William Kircher, who plays Bifur, introduced Beorn and the sequence where the hobbits and dwarves took refuge in his house.

"We're being chased by this horrible, gigantic, slathering bear into Beorn's house," he said.

Ian McKellen (Gandalf) went on to describe Beorn as a man who "is sometimes a bear or a bear who is sometimes a man." Persbrandt more astutely described his character as a "skin changer."

The cast also talked about how the dimensions of the set -- which featured intricate carvings, massive wooden structures, big rugs and a beautiful barn -- were designed to make them look smaller.

"It made all of us feel small," director Peter Jackson said. "I used to be able to stand on that set and look up at the crew stare up at the camera like tiny little people, it made for a really entertaining couple of days of shooting."

A special collector's edition of the DVD and Blu-ray for The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug is also scheduled to release on Apr. 8.

The film will be available in a variety of packages which will also feature a limited collector's edition set for $105.43, a Blu-ray 3-D combo pack for $44.95, a Blu-ray combo pack for $35.99 and a 2-disc DVD special edition for $28.98.

Only 25,000 pieces of the collector's edition will be available in the U.S. and will include two Gates of Erebor replica bookends and a theatrical version of the film in 3-D high-definition, high-definition and standard definition.
