Many Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) fans felt gypped by the archer's small role in 2012's The Avengers, but viewers will be treated to much more of his aerialist acrobats and expert marksmanship in the 2015 sequel. No longer under Loki's control, Hawkeye will be able to help the Avengers from start to finish during Age of Ultron.

"[It] was important in the characters you haven't seen [since the first Avengers movie] -- Hulk being one of them and Hawkeye being one of them -- [that] Ultron will make up for it," explained Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios' president of production, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "They have very big parts in Age of Ultron."

'Avengers 2' To Explore Black Widow's 'Dark Past' & 'Trauma', Prelude To Scarlett Johansson Solo Film?

While Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), and Captain America (Chris Evans) have been lucky enough to receive their own movie franchises, characters like Hawkeye, the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) have yet to receive a solo film.

There has been a great deal of discussion regarding future films for the Hulk and Black Widow, but Hawkeye has yet to receive that level of attention from Marvel Studios.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron will hit theaters on May 1, 2015.
