While things aren't looking too good for Julia and Joel's relationship on Parenthood, the show's executive producer revealed that the finale will offer some direction.
Jason Katims told TVLine that the season 5 finale on April 17 "will give people, if not hope, at least something to hope for or talk about," in regards to the estranged couple.
He added, "there's been a lot of change for a lot of our characters [this season], and a lot of those changes come to a head in this last episode. It really does have a feeling of, 'So much has led to this moment,' and there are some nice questions about where things are going to lead, as well. [There's a nice] catharsis at the end."
In a recent episode, Joel told Julia that their marriage wasn't working even before she kissed Ed. With tears in his eyes, the father of their two children explained that he felt hurt by her displeasure of being a stay-at-home mom and revealed that he considered her kiss cheating. It became clear that Joel isn't ready to forgive Julia and it seems he may never do so.
A sneak peek from Thursday night's episode also teases that Julia may try her luck at love again with another man as the preview shows her getting hot and heavy with someone new.
The next episode of Parenthood airs on Thursday, April 3 on NBC at 10 p.m. EST.
