Homeland is headed outside the U.S. as preparations begin for filming the show's fourth season.

Fara To Have 'Key Role' On Carrie's Team In Season 4?

Homeland season 4 will be filmed in Cape Town, South Africa, according to a Friday report by Deadline. Production is set to begin in mid-June and last through November.

"We've been so lucky to work with one of the best crews in the business for the last three seasons in Charlotte [NC]," said Homeland showrunner Alex Gansa in the report. "We knew going into season four that we would need to move the production overseas to tell the story of Carrie [Claire Danes] returning to the Middle East as chief of station. We are thrilled to have found a new home in Cape Town and look forward to getting season four production off the ground."

Jessica Brody Officially Gone Ahead of "Major Reset" in Season 4?

Showtime did not reveal exactly where Carrie would be stationed, though it will be in the Middle East for sure. Reportedly, Carrie is "assigned to one of the most volatile and dangerous CIA stations in the Middle East where she is back on the front lines in the war on terror."

Season 4 of Homeland will be a big transition for the show, considering the events that occurred at the end of season 3. Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis), who had been one of the two leading characters on the show since the beginning, was hanged in Iran and died at the end of season 3.

Now, the focus will shift to Carrie leading her team in the Middle East as they continue to fight the war on terror.

Homeland season 4 is expected to premiere in fall 2014 on Showtime, though the network has not yet set an air date.
