Justin Bieber stopped by "The Late Show" with David Letterman on Thursday but it turned into a very awkward interview when the host asked rude questions about the singer's new tatoo.

Bieber got the "Believe" tatoo in his left forearm to celebrate the release of his new album with the same name Tuesday.

“Explain this to me, is that a new tattoo?” Letterman asked.

“This is a new tattoo,” Bieber responded.

“Oh God, how many do you have?”

“I have a … just a couple," Bieber said.

“Well, tell me that’s the last one.”

“Might be.”

But Letterman pressed onto the issue.

“How does that help how you look- to have a tattoo?” the host asked.

“It doesn’t not help the way I look. Yesterday my album came out and it was an important day for me, so I got ‘Believe’....” he said.

The interview turned even more awkward when Letterman agressively grabbed his tatoo.

"Hey! Hey! Hey! Get that off there! This is brand new!" Bieber said as he pulled away his arm.

"Grandpas."

At this point Bieber looked uncomfortable with the grab but Letterman didn't stop there.

He told Bieber not to “go nuts” and not get the “Sistine Chapel” covering his entire body.

“I’m not going for the 16th chapel,” replied Bieber, to the laughs of the audience for the malapropism.

"Canadian high school,” Letterman said.

The host also lectured him about going to college.

"Now what about college. What are you thinking about going to college?" Letterman asked.

"I mean, I can't say I'm never like going to go to college but at this point I'm not playing on it because I'm focusing on this aaalbum," Bieber replied as he tried to direct the talk to the music.

Letterman later apologized for his behaviour saying he was told he was being "snappish" with Bieber.
