With the season 4 premiere of MTV's hit show Awkward just one week away, fans can brace themselves for episodes that will take the show back to its roots as far as the comedy is concerned.

New Girl Has Awkward Encounter With Val?

In an April 5 interview with The Huffington Post, Jillian Rose Reed, who plays Tamara on the series, assured fans that the show was taking a similar direction with the comedy that it had back in its first season.

"Season 4 is funny and shocking," she said. "We're getting back to our roots with the comedy and the awkward moments that we loved from the first season."

She also said that fans can expect some of the usual craziness that comes with being a high school senior, which will add something new and fun to the mix of the usual boy drama the characters face.

"There's senior pictures and there's a big senior sleepover, and we're all stressing over college applications," she said. "Then mix that in with all of our crazy boy drama and relationship drama, and this season's going to be pretty fun."

She also revealed how the show tends to keep things more true-to-life with the situations the kids on the shows face.

"Obviously, it's a show, so all of our situations are a bit more exaggerated...we do a really great job of keeping it true to life with the love, the drama, the love circles and the relationships with parents and best friends," she said. "Our showrunners always go to a high school to sit with kids and talk about the things that they're going through. Even just the way they talk, everything's been very carefully noted."

Awkward season 4 premieres Tuesday, April 15 at 10 p.m. on MTV. Watch a video of the cast remembering their favorite lines from the first three seasons below.
