Jerry Sandusky was found guilty on 45 child sex abuse charges on Friday triggering a big celebration of hundreds of people gathered outside the courtroom and many others on the Internet.

Sandusky will spend the rest of his life in prison. Sentencing is expected to be in about three months but the mandatory minimum guarantees his imprisonment for life.

Outside the courtroom loud cheers could be heard from a couple of hundred people gathered to hear the verdict. Those people included victim advocates and local residents accompanied by their children, according to AP.

When Sandusky was led out of the court in handcuffs one person yelled at him “rot in hell.”

Pennsylvania Attorney General Linda Kelly praised the victims for their courage to testify, speaking after the verdict was given.

She hoped the verdict "helps these victims heal and helps other victims of abuse to come forward."

"One of the recurring themes in this case was, `Who would believe a kid?'," she said. "The answer is `We here in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, would believe a kid."

A similar reaction was seen on Twitter and Facebook where thousands of people said Sandusky’s case will give the courage to other children to speak out.

“Best outcome of Jerry Sandusky case: someday it will give some kid the courage to say, "I'm telling," a Twitter user wrote.

Thousands of people were satisfied with the verdict.

“It took long enough. Now he can play with the big husky men in jail who dont play fair. Do wrong get wronged. Thats life. He deserve it,” a Facebook user said.

“They should consider the death penalty, just to make sure he can't hurt anymore children,” a person on Facebook wrote.

“I wish Jerry Sandusky was at least 20 years younger. That way, he could spend so much more time in prison,” a person on Twitter wrote.

But for the mother of one of the victims who testified in Sandusky's trial, the verdict is not a victory.

"Nobody wins. We've all lost," she told the Associated Press.
