It appears that one of the reasons Ryan Gosling believed Eva Mendes was "the one" for him is being thrown back in his face.

Ryan Gosling Knew Eva Mendes Was 'The One' When She Took Care Of George?

After reports that Gosling knew Mendes was perfect for him after volunteering to take care of his beloved dog, George, while he was away shooting films, Radar Online reports that she recently gave the pooch over to an unlikely caretaker -- her ex-boyfriend George Augusto.

According to the April 7 report, Mendes truly insulted her ex-boyfriend of 10 years when she asked him to look after Gosling's dog while the couple traveled.

Eva Mendes Steps Out In Ryan Gosling's Shirt?

"George was humiliated when he was suddenly handed a list of instructions about how to take care of the dog by one of Ryan's assistants," a source said. "Only then did he realize that Ryan's dog is also named George!"

Augusto, who still works as Mendes' assistant, was reportedly so humiliated by Mendes giving the dog to him that he later spoke to her about it, informing her that he wouldn't ever take care of Gosling's dog again.

Gosling could also reportedly be upset with Mendes over the decision to give his beloved 13-year-old dog over to her ex.

Last month, it was revealed that Gosling reportedly realized he was in love with Mendes when she stepped up to the plate and took care of the other love of his life -- his 13-year-old dog, George.

Gosling and his dog go way back; when George was younger, he was often a staple on Gosling's film sets. However, as his age has advanced, Gosling has had to leave him behind when he goes to shoot a movie. Shortly after he and Mendes began dating in 2011, she reportedly proved she was the one for him by saying she would take care of George while he was in Bangkok shooting Only God Forgives.

"He was going to have his friends watch George, but changed his mind at the last minute," sources said. "That's a huge deal to him. He wouldn't leave that dog with just anyone."

Since then, Gosling has given Mendes total control over George's care whenever he needs to be out of town, and has ensured his precious pooch won't miss him too much when he leaves.

"George used to go everywhere with him, but now he's getting on," the source said. "Ryan's too worried to let him fly long-haul. So he lives with Eva Mendes, and Ryan, who's terrified something might happen to him, Skypes him."
