American Idol's Top 8 took a trip to the era of hair bands and leg warmers on Wednesday night when the series paid tribute to the '80s.

'The Voice' Results Season 6 Playoffs: Who Was Eliminated From Team Blake Shelton?

Last week, Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr. banded together to invoke their only save of the season in order to keep Sam Woolf in the game. With the Florida native back on the stage, the Top 8 belted out another round of solos and duets during a second week of voting.

'Dancing With the Stars' Results Week 4 Elimination: Who Was Voted Off?

Jena Irene kicked off the evening on a sour note with a drab performance that left the judges disappointed. Her rendition of Joan Jett & the Blackhearts' I Love Rock and Roll incorporated her talent on the piano but "languished" after that, according to J Lo.

Dexter Roberts then took on The Georgia Satellites' Keep Your Hands to Yourself while Malaya Watson tried her hand at some Chaka Khan and Jessica Meuse attempted to be sultry during Blondie's Call Me.

Woolf, however, proved he was worthy of last week's save when he took the stage for Cyndi Lauper Time After Time. Unlike Alex Preston's flubbed rearrangement of The Police's Every Breath You Take, Woolf's decision to put an acoustic twist on the classic tune turned out to be a hit with the judges.

CJ Harris and Caleb Johnson closed out the show with their renditions of Tom Petty's Free Falling and Journey's Faithfully, respectively.

American Idol will return to Fox on Thursday for a 9 p.m. ET results show.
