Season 5 of NCIS: Los Angeles is drawing to a close, and the cast has started to film the season finale.

Penned by NCIS: LA alum R. Scott Gemmill ("War Cries," "Impact") and directed by Larry Teng ("Unwritten Rule," "Omni"), the finale will air as episode 24. With nearly 20 stories under his belt, Gemmill is intimately familiar with Callen's (Chris O'Donnell) team and he can be expected to turn out a solid adventure to cap off the season.

Now that filming is underway, Miguel Ferrer (Granger) has revealed that the untitled episode will have all the twists and turns expected of a season finale.

"Started shooting the season finale today. R. Scott Gemmill wrote a beauty. Lot of stuff I did not see coming," Ferrer tweeted on Wednesday.

NCIS: LA has previously used its season finales to convey vital information about a character's past (season 1's "Callen, G," season 2's "Familia") or concluded on a major cliffhanger (Season 3's "Sans Valor, Part II," season 4's "Descent"). While it hasn't been revealed which direction that this episode will take, fans can expect that it will probably leave them begging for the season 6 premiere.

NCIS: LA airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. Click the video below to see a preview for the series' next episode, "Three Hearts."
