New reports suggest that Netflix's bread and butter series, House of Cards, may decide to film Season 3 in a state other than Maryland after all.

Maryland Agrees To Netflix Show's Higher Tax Credit Demands?

Reportedly, the production company for House of Cards, Media Rights Capital (MRC), had postponed the filming of Season 3 in Maryland until June, in expectations of receiving the demanded higher tax credits. However, after State lawmakers failed to approve said demands during a back-and-forth session Monday, there is talk that the producers plan to follow through on previous threats of filming in another state.

In February, producers penned a letter to Maryland officials, warning that it would set up its stages, set, and offices in another state if it did not receive the requested monies. Currently, MRC has about $15 million from Maryland to film a third season there. During the April 7 session though, the Senate and House of Delegates could not negotiate an agreement to allot an additional $3.5 million for the show, so MRC is now left to make a decision as to where it wants to film its next season.

Now that the demands of MRC have not been fulfilled, it is unclear which move producers will make, as a spokeswoman for the company, Megan Duzer, said MRC has no comment at this time. Meanwhile, purportedly a construction coordinator for House of Cards said the show is tentatively considering locations such as Pittsburgh, Chicago and Toronto as new filming sites.
