The Box Returns In 'Three Hearts,' Will Deeks Open It?

The CBS series has allowed the partner's romantic relationship to evolve very naturally after Deeks' (Eric Christian Olsen) torture, but it was momentarily derailed once more by Kensi's (Daniela Ruah) little trip abroad. Now that she is back, it looks like the pair will try to pick up where they left off five months ago.

"5 days till "Three Hearts" airs!" tweeted writer Dave Kalstein. "Yep, it picks up right where "The Frozen Lake" left off... #NCISLA #trustyourtraining."

For those who don't remember, "The Frozen Lake" saw Deeks and Kensi come to a promising understanding about the future of their relationship. Unfortunately, Kensi was shipped off just hours later and the pair was unable to move forward as planed.

Will they truly be able to act as if nothing has changed, particularly for Kensi? Ruah wasn't able to give any definitive answers on the matter, but the actress did hint that the partners could be just as successful friends as they would be as lovers.

"I don't think anybody understands them better than they understand each other - but that could also make for a wonderful friendship," Ruah told TV Guide. "It doesn't necessarily mean that they'll become a couple. I think they have to set their priorities straight, before anything could ever happen. What's more important: their job or their future life together? ... I'm actually indecisive of where I would like them to go."
