While Apollo Nida is facing jail time for serious fraud charges, his wife, Phaedra Parks, is out to clear her own name against speculation that she has committed similar crimes.

Why Did Angela Stanton Call Phaedra a 'Crooked Attorney'?

According to new documents obtained by Radar Online, Parks filed an affidavit on March 31 in Gwinnett County, Georgia to be included her ongoing lawsuit against Angela Stanton. Parks is suing Stanton for defamation after she wrote a book, Lies of a Real Housewife, and claimed that Parks was the master mind behind Nida's first fraud scam that landed him and Stanton behind bars.

The affidavit reads, "Due to the falsity of the material in the book, and to protect her reputation, on or about September 26, 2012, [Parks] filed a defamation action against [Stanton].

"[Parks] verifies, under oath, that the allegations made by the Defendant in her Book and referenced in the Plaintiff's Complaint are false. [Stanton] knew the statements she made about the plaintiff were false when she made them."

It adds that Parks did not know about any "bank fraud scheme" nor did she ever involve herself with any criminal activity with Stanton.

"I have never been arrested for a crime or charged with any crime. I have never been questioned by any law enforcement agency about any possible involvement in a crime. I have never been involved in any criminal schemes with Defendant Stanton or anyone else. I have never committed any crime other than routine traffic violations," Parks, who is also a lawyer wrote.

She also verified that she is suing to protect her reputation.

As for her husband, Nida has until April 25 to decide if he wants to take a plea deal stemming from his most current fraud charges. He is accused of bank fraud, identity theft and other criminal activity as part of a scam that is said to have brought in around $3 million.
