The infamous Ghost Killer will return on the next episode of Bones, with Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) possibly getting closer to catching him or her.

Brennan & Booth Ready For Second Baby?

The next episode of Bones is titled The Nail in the Coffin, and as the title suggests, the latest victim is found dead with her nails ripped out of her. The victim is Stephanie McNamara, the daughter of a wealthy family whose death is believed to be at the hands of the elusive Ghost Killer, according to a new Fox plot synopsis.

After finding her remains at a national park, the Jeffersonian team discovers that Stephanie might have an interesting connection with one of the Ghost Killer's previous victims.

Meanwhile, Booth is dealing with changes in his career as the FBI Deputy Director shows special interest in the Jeffersonian team's Ghost Killer case.

As Enstars previously reported, the Ghost Killer case and Booth's potential promotion are converging as season 9 reaches its finale.

Bones executive producer Stephen Nathan previously told TVLine that the ending would be a surprising one as these stories come together.

"We're ending the year in a very surprising way," Nathan revealed to TVLine in March. "Two different stories converge and it throws Booth and Brennan's work relationship into turmoil and causes big, big changes for our people."

As Nathan noted at the time, the Ghost Killer arc becomes "far more complex and conspiratorial, and very well might lead back to the FBI."

Bones season 9 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
