Season 4 of MTV's hit show Awkward is scheduled to premiere tonight, and the cast and new showrunners have dished on a lot of what can be expected as it continues to unfold: plenty of senior year drama and tension.

New Girl Set For 'Cringe-Worthy' Session With Val?

In an interview with TVLine, Jillian Rose Reed, who plays Tamara on the show, dished some never-before revealed details on the impending Jakeara (Jake -Brett Davern-and Tamara) breakup on the series. Unfortunately for fans of the couple, it looks like there won't be any reunions for the pair in later episodes.

"We're going to keep the same Awkward style, which our new showrunners are really good at -- but as for Jake and Tamara, it feels pretty permanent for me," she said. "They've gone through so much together, and their relationship has already had its ups and downs. So to me, this feels like a permanent end. After getting over the heartbreak, Tamara's main focus is going to be to try and remain somewhat cordial to [Jake] and hopefully remain friends."

Season 4 To Be 'Super-Sized?'

Reed also opened up about Jessica Lu's (who played Ming) decision to leave the show, and how it affects the friendship between Tamara and Jenna (Ashley Rickards).

"You'll see in the premiere, we explain her absence, and we do mention her here and there. We miss her. But Jenna and Tamara are stronger than ever, and there's a new girl that enters the picture," she said.

Speaking about the new girl, played by Elizabeth Whitson, new showrunners Mike Chessler and Chris Alberghini also spoke to TV Line, hinting how the character adds her own influx of drama to the mix.

"She gets a lot of attention from the guys, who all want to do her, and the girls, who all want to be like her," Alberghini teased.

Chessler and Alberghini also teased that despite Jenna's emotional ties to Matty (Beau Mirschoff), she will find herself very drawn to college guy Luke (Evan Williams), which will add a nice new love triangle element into the mix.

"Luke represents Jenna thinking ahead about what she's going to be like in college," Chessler said, "In Jenna's eyes, he's an adult."

Alberghini added: "Senior year of high school, you're pretty damn close to being an adult. There's a lot of exploration on that subject matter,"

Awkward season 4 premieres Tuesday, April 15 at 10 p.m. on MTV.
