Shaving his beard could help Ryan Gosling remain off the market and with one of Hollywood's most lusted-after actresses.

Ryan Gosling Cheating On Eva Mendes With Rachel McAdams?

A new study has found that on average, women are beginning to find men without facial hair more attractive than men with it. According to Glamour Magazine, researchers at the University of New South Wales studied how 1,453 bisexual or heterosexual women responded to 36 photos of men's faces, and overall, the women were more impressed with the photos of men who were not sporting beards.

According to the study's leader, Professor Robert Brooks, this could be showing a trend in the decline of the beard as something sexy, because it has become increasingly more common over the years.

"We may well be at peak beard," Brooks said.

The full study claims that because bearded faces have been more on the rise over the years, the quality that makes them attractive seems to have declined.

"When beards were rare, hirsute faces were more attractive than when beards were common..." the study said. "Conversely, when clean-shaven faces were rare, clean-shaven faces and light stubble enjoyed their greatest attractiveness, and beards became less attractive."

This could spell trouble for Gosling, who has taken to sporting more facial hair as of late. The most recent photos of the actor, which surfaced March while he pumped gas, showed him sporting significant scruff on his face. Though the actor pulls it off well, the look could overall become unattractive and make his girlfriend, Eva Mendes, pull away.

Of course, not all agree with the study's findings. Keith Flett, the founder of the Beard Liberation Front, told Glamour that the study wasn't something that could be taken seriously.

"Many men have beards for reasons entirely unrelated to sexual attraction, sometimes even the most basic one of not being bothered to shave," he said. "There is no actual evidence that beards have peaked or are in decline as a fashion statement or anything else."
