The upcoming second season of Under the Dome will be different than the one that came before it, according to new info from one of the show's executive producers.

Big Jim, Barbie, Junior, Phil, Linda, Norrie, Angie Or Carolyn Could Die in Premiere?

Under the Dome executive producer Neal Baer spoke with USA Today recently, revealing that the upcoming season will be more about "transformation" than season 1.

"This is a season of transformation," executive producer Neal Baer said. "Last year was a season of secrets being revealed about our characters. Now, they really have to cope with the ramifications of what this all means, since it doesn't look like they're getting out any time soon."

ER Star Cast as Presumed Dead Character?

The season 2 premiere of Under the Dome will feature the death of two main characters, as previously reported by Enstars. With this death comes new life as several new characters are set to make their debuts this season.

Among the new characters are Sam Verdreaux (Eddie Cahill), the brother-in-law of Big Jim Rennie (Dean Norris), Rebecca Pine (Karla Crome), a schoolteacher who also works with Big Jim and is very science-oriented, and Melanie (Grace Victoria Cox), a woman pulled from the lake by Julia (Rachelle Lefevre).

Julia pulls Melanie from the lake after throwing the mystery egg into it in the season 1 finale.

Julia forms a connection with Melanie and Sam, with the latter being a "good ally" to her. Meanwhile, Melanie becomes "completely invested" in Julia after being saved by her.

Under the Dome season 2 premieres Monday, June 30 at 10 p.m. on CBS.
