The Voice's Top 12 contestants sang their heart out on Monday night in an effort to pass the first round of live performances.

After two rounds of The Battles and two weeks of The Playoffs, the NBC series was left with 12 hopefuls as the competition prepared to kick off six weeks of live acts. While Coach Blake Shelton, Coach Adam Levine, Coach Usher, and Coach Shakira will be on hand to critique their charges performances, each performer must use their impressive pipes to win over the public.

Team Usher's Bria Kelly was first to take the stage on Monday, and she started the performance on a sour note. While Kelly's guitar playing aided a nice touch to her rendition of Adele's Rolling in the Deep, Levine and Shelton pointed out that a lower key would have suited her vocal range much better. T.J. Wilkins had a much better evening than his teammate when his reggae spin on John Mayer's Waiting on the World to Change struck a chord with the coaches.

Meanwhile, all three of Levine's student's turned in powerful performances. The Maroon 5 frontman has led his team to victory twice and he appears to have a good field this season as well. Delvin Choice scored with The Righteous Brothers' Unchained Melody, Christina Grimmie worked to strengthen her stage presence with Katy Perry's Dark Horse, and Kat Perkins brought the rock with Heart's Magic Man.

As for Team Blake and Team Shakira, each mentor saw at least one of their pupils succeed on Monday. Shakira's Kristen Merlin showed off her country skills despite a minor microphone problem, and Shelton's Audra McLaughlin won over the audience with her performance of Chip Taylor's Angel of the Morning.

Now the contestants can receive a little help from wither the iTunes sales bonuses (which multiplies an artist's vote by five when their single for that week enters the iTunes Top 10) or the Instant Save (which allows voters to save one of the bottom three by tweeting their support).

Find out who's heading home by watching the result show tomorrow at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
