Bones executive producer Stephen Nathan spoke with TV Guide about the season 9 finale and where the show will change through to season 10.

"They uncover what appears to be a conspiracy that is far, far larger than the Ghost Killer," Nathan teased. "We wanted to [take] this in another direction and make this rabbit hole that they're falling down far more nefarious than we have ever seen before."

Enstars had previously reported that Booth (David Boreanaz) getting promoted to a new position in the FBI combined with the Ghost Killer reveal would reach a climax in the season finale. Booth finds his potential promotion in trouble after a conspiracy blogger he had been contacting is murdered. The incident and everything surrounding it will have a lasting impact on the show's characters

"People will be changed by what has happened at the end of Season 9 and what will occur at the top of Season 10," Nathan said. "The show as we all know it will continue; it will just continue in a different way."

The finale episode is set to air on Monday, May 12 at 8 p.m. on Fox, though this will not be the end of the road for the show. As previously noted, the series has been renewed for season 10.
