CSI: Las Vegas fans should be prepared to say goodbye to Captain Brass by time the season finale roles around.

One of the few original characters left on the series, Jim Brass (Paul Guilfoyle) will be stepping out of the LVPD office for the last time during the season 14 finale, "Dead In His Tracks." Unfortunately, his decision to leave his team is not one that will come easily.

While D.B. Russell (Ted Danson) and his CSIs are busy tying a current case to a 25-year-old mob heist, Brass will still be dealing with the fallout from his daughter's murderous behavior during "The Devil and D.B. Russell." It looks like Ellie Brass will attempt suicide and force her father's hand on a difficult decision.

As for why the character is being written out of the series, CSI exec producers Carol Mendelsohn and Don McGill explained their reasoning to The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year.

"Paul made Capt. Brass a standout character," the pair explained. "He is not just an original cast member, he is an original. In a show about forensics, fans always looked forward to the handcuffs coming out, and Capt. Brass putting his spin on the crime of the week, just as Paul Guilfoyle put his indelible stamp on the character and the show. He will be missed."
