Ion network has acquired Rookie Blue from the Disney-ABC Television Group. 

The cop drama series, which averaged 7 million viewers in the last summer season on ABC, will begin its syndicated run on ION beginning this fall. The fourth season was up 13% from season 3. 

"We're excited to enter into this agreement with the Disney-ABC Television Group and provide our audience with this fresh new police drama," Brandon Burgess, chairman and CEO of Ion Media Networks. "Rookie Blue fits seamlessly with our current roster of hit series and reinforces our commitment to viewers."

The series, which chronicles the personal and professional lives of rookie cops will join two other Canadian drama procedurals that begun their U.S. run on another broadcast network becoming ION originals, Flashpoint and The Listener. Other shows such as Blue Bloods, Criminal Minds, Cold Case, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Burn Notice, Psych and Leverage. 

Season 5 will return this June on ABC. The cast included Missy Peregrym, Gregory Smith, Ben Bass, Travis Milne, Enuka Okuma, Charlotte Sullivan, Peter Mooney, Priscilla Faia, Matt Gordon, Rachael Ancheril, Melanie Nicholls-King, Adam MacDonald and Aliyah O'Brien are joined by Oliver Becker and Matthew Owen Murray in the new season.

Last season ended with Sam fighting for his life in a hospital after he was shot. Fans can remember Andy being by Sam's side during the ambulance ride, in which she told him that she loved him, despite having feelings for Nick. 

Rookie Blue will premiere June 17 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
