Supernatural is in for a wild hunt when the series heads to the Windy City, a hunt so complex that it warrants its own series.

Filming Begins For 'Bloodlines' Spin-off, New Roles Announced As Cast Updates Fans

The CW drama will premiere the backdoor pilot for its new spin-off, Supernatural: Bloodlines, during the aptly titled April 29 episode, "Bloodlines."

Set in Chicago, the upcoming series will focus on a rookie hunter and his interactions with the five paranormal families that run the city's seedy underground. A wannabe cop in his early 20s, Ennis (Lucien Laviscount) will get a crash course in hunting from Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) before he takes on any of Supernatural's usual suspects - werewolves, shapeshifters, etc.

Essentially, as Dean Winchester puts it, Bloodlines is like "The Godfather with fangs."

While the world of hunters and monsters will essentially stay the same, Bloodlines' similarities to Supernatural end there. Sadly, there will be no twin to the Impala.

"Fans can expect the mother ship's humor, horror and pathos, but the new show would be less procedural and lean toward serialized soaps with storylines about intra- and inter-family dynamics," explained Supernatural executive producer Jeremy Carver, according to TV Guide Magazine.
