American Idol said goodbye to CJ Harris as the series narrowed down their contestants to the Top 5 on Thursday.

Harris is no stranger to being at the bottom of the pack, and the singer found himself in the Bottom 2 once more following a rough Top 6 performance. Each competitor was required to take on one rock song and one country song on Wednesday night, and Harris failed to impress the judges with either.

For his rock performance, Harris tried his hand at The Guess Who's American Woman. After that song bombed, the Alabama native took on Whatever It Is by the Zac Brown Band, but he ultimately fell short on that front as well.

While Harris certainly received the worst news of the evening, Jessica Meuse was also crossing her fingers and toes after she fell into the Bottom 2 as well. However, Meuse's performances of Dolly Partons' Jolene and Jefferson Airplane's Somebody to Love managed to impress voters even if they did receive some harsh criticism from the judges' table.

For his final act, Harris sang Can't You See by Marshall Tucker Band before packing his bags to head home (see video below).

American Idol will return next Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on Fox with the Top 5.
