The highly anticipated second season of Orange is the New Black is coming very soon, and with the new season comes a changing dynamic in the prison.

'Gasp-able' Moments Ahead For Piper & Other Characters in Season 2?

Piper (Taylor Schilling) will be facing the consequences of her actions in the season 1 finale, which involved her beating up Pennsatucky (Taryn Manning) during the Christmas pageant. As a result, Piper is placed in solitary confinement before becoming Red's (Kate Mulgrew) new bunkmate, according to the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly.

Later in the season, Piper will be going on furlough and then proceed to "look into Red's family in Queens." Piper will also be crossing paths with Alex (Laura Prepon) again, but she will find herself being screwed over by her former lover again.

Meanwhile, Red will be dealing with her own past issues after a former nemesis named Vee (Lorraine Toussaint) enters the prison and reunites with her. The season will also find Red taking up a new hobby. Red had been the head cook of the Litchfield prison throughout season 1 but she eventually lost her job by the finale.

Orange is the New Black creator and show runner Jenji Kohan spoke with the publication about the overall tone of season 2.

"We had a theme for season 2. A little darker, a little more fractured. We wanted to explore the groups one at a time," Kohan said. "It was getting a little summer-campy, and we wanted to address the realities that this is prison. We needed a little more drama."

Orange is the New Black season 2 premieres in full on Friday, June 6 through Netflix streaming.
