Caterina Scorsone reprised her role as Private Practice's Amelia Shepherd on Grey's Anatomy and it turns out she may stay in Seattle a little longer than expected.

Derek's younger sister, who is a neurosurgeon, showed up to tell him that she and James were engaged. Although the siblings hadn't spoken for two months up until that point, Amelia will want to change that distance.

"She's really realizing the value of having her family around," Scorsone told TVGuide.com. "She's definitely thinking about the pros and cons of living far away in Los Angeles."

Amelia will also form a closer relationship with Derek's wife, Meredith, as the two will "do some major bonding" while the doctor is away.

When Private Practice ended in 2013, the 32-year-old actress expressed her desire to appear on Grey's Anatomy again.

"That would be wonderful," she previously told the website. "They have been so good to me here in Shondaland, if they ever wanted me to come and do a guest spot or anything - cook a soufflé - I would do anything."

Yet, while some characters may be here to say, others are saying goodbye to the Grey Sloan Memorial for good. Longtime Grey's Anatomy star Sandra Oh, who plays Dr. Cristina Yang, announced in August that season 10 would be her last. Newer faces Tessa Ferrer and Gaius Charles will also not come back next season. Ferrer, who plays Dr. Leah Murphy, and Charles, aka Dr. Shane Ross, joined the ABC show last season as interns. The two were promoted to series regulars during season 10.
